Tracy Gordon
Literacy Coach
Tracy Gordon has been an educator for over 30. Her journey began in Jamaica where she taught for 15 years and later migrated to the United States where she is currently working at Overby Sheppard Elementary as the Academic Coordinator. Her heart and passion lies in seeing students reading independently. This passion has been rooted since she was a toddler reading basal readers. This passion led her to pursue a bachelors of Early Childhood Education to become a teacher where she delighted herself in teaching students how to read. In order to remain current and abreast with new and innovative changes in reading, Ms, Gordon completed a masters in Reading from University of Virginia (UVA). “Being an educator is the best job for many reasons: you never stop growing and learning, you are part of a caring community, and the children bring you joy every day.”

Sheila Waters
Sheila Waters has been teaching for 28 years. Mrs. Waters knew at an early age that she had a love for reading and that she wanted to become a teacher so she could share her love of reading with others. She could often be found turning her bedroom into a "classroom" and teaching her dolls to read. Mrs. Waters pursued her dream of becoming a teacher and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Teaching degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She spent the majority of her career teaching first grade and quickly discovered that she had a passion for working with young students as they develop into independent readers. This led Mrs. Waters to complete coursework at Longwood University to add an endorsement as a Reading Specialist. She currently works at Overby-Sheppard as a reading interventionist.
CERTIFICATIONS- BA in English, MT in Elementary Education, endorsement in English as a second language, endorsement as a Reading Specialist.
